VDAY Cagayan de Oro City 2008 Fiscal Sponsor, Honeysweet Learning Center will be conducting the following Performing Arts workshops:
1.) Children’s Theatre(storytelling, focusing games exercises, applications and more)
2.) Teen’s Theatre(basic acting, concentration exercises, applications and more)
3.) Advance Theatre(advance acting techniques, exercises, applications and more)
4.) Contemporary Dance/ movements workshop(basic elements of dance and exercises, techniques, applications and more)
5.) Music Composition (basic elements of music, Maguindanaoan and Maranaoan dance music exercises, applications and more).
Facilitators of these workshops are from Performing Mindanao which is defined as: “A group of trained artists from all over Mindanao” who recently culminated from a 10-day Artists Camp under the great artists Steven Patrick Fernandez of IPAG, Iligan City (for scriptwriting/writing a scenario), Richard Bilar of Kaliwat Theatre Collective, Davao City (for choreography/movements) Popong Landero of SAMADHI, Davao City (for music composition), Sunnie Noel of Dulaang Kambayoka, Marawi City (for stage directing), and Felimon Blanco of KaZaulogaN-Zambo Sur Artist Network (for performance and acting).
Registration fee is P 2,500.00(Inclusive of snacks and lunch) per participant

The proceeds for these workshops will cover part of the losses of the March 28, 2008 performance of THE VAGINA MONOLOGUES under the worldwide campaign VDAY Cagayan de Oro City 2008, where we didn’t meet the expected amount to generate due to miscommunication of the parties involved in marketing and promotions. Our foremost aim in organizing for the specific show is to enable us to donate to VDAY and to our local beneficiaries, Teodora: Empowering Women through the Arts and 3 female students of Balulang National High School, financial aid for school year 2008-2009, aside from the awareness campaigns. Sadly, the donation box did not even reach the minimum target, hence these workshops. Thanks to the commitment of kind hearted individuals who are working not to promote their names and boost their egos but with their commitment to make art the avenue for change and reform, learning and growth, and for supporting VDAY, as an avenue for women empowerment. Another production of the same show will be staged on April 26, 2008. Hopefully with this second show we can generate more money to donate. We would also like to thank Atty. Samson S. Tan for his support and kind consideration on the financial arrangement for the venue.

On April 28 and 29, 2008, Honeysweet Learning Center, in partnership with TOUCH FOUNDATION, together with the VDAY Cagayan de Oro City 2008 Vagina Warriors, will be conducting a FREE Personality Development and Self Esteem Workshop for the victims and survivors of VAWC (RA 9262 or the anti-violence against women and children act).
For those who supported us unconditionally, our deepest gratitude. To all Vagina Warriors, you have given justice to the monologues. I thank you for lending your voices to share the stories of women. To our Partners, our activities may be simple, yet we know for a fact that they have changed lives and life conditions.
